Former Vice-President Ahmed Adheeb has been transferred to his home citing his health condition. According to the Maldives Correctional Service, the former Vice-President who masterminded the MMPRC corruption scandal was transferred to his home under a court permit.
The former Vice-President had in a recent court session pleaded guilty to all charges against him, and asked the public for forgiveness. His statement also incriminated the ruling coalition parties and its leaders to have taken bribe from the MMPRC corruption scandal.
Though former President Abdulla Yameen and Vice-President Ahmed Adheeb are being charged under the same corruption scandal, the government has repeatedly refused to provide any ease on the sentence on the former President Abdulla Yameen with an unusual decision to keep the former President in jail even during the holy month of Ramadan.
