Opposition Vice-President MP Mohamed Saeed has stated that power struggle between President Solih and Speaker Nasheed is detrimental to our independence and sovereignty. The Maavashu Cosntituency MP said this after Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed alleged that former President Abdulla Yameen did not want to follow up on the Free Trade Agreement with China.
The former President also alleged that the Free Trade Agreement with China is null and void at this point.
MP Mohamed Saeed stated that “The Free Trade Agreement still stands, and the sovereignty and independence of this country is being compromised due to the power struggle between President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and former President Mohamed Nasheed.”. He further stated that the government’s compromise in our independence and sovereignty is due to interference by a foreign state which is yet to choose a side in the Nasheed-Solih power struggle.
