The government of Iran has submitted a Red Notice request at the Interpol against US President Donald Trump and 47 Trump administration officials. Speaking at a Press conference, Iranian Spokesperson for the Judiciary, Gholamhosein Esmaili stated that a request was made to the Interpol for Red Notice against US President Donald Trump and 47 other officials for their alleged role in the assassination of Iranian General Qassem Suleimani on January 3 2020.
Major General Qassem Suleimani was the leader of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and the Quds Force for decades. Considered the General Mattis of the Middle East, General Qassem Suleimani was assassinated under a drone strike ordered by US President Donald Trump.
Though the drone strike and assassination of Major General Qassem Suleimani was deemed by the UN Special Rapporteur on extra judicial, summary or arbitrary executions to have been against international laws, it is unlikely that Interpol will issue a Red Notice against a US President and his officials.
However, Iranian Judiciary Chief Ebrahim Raisi has stated that US President Donald Trump was the main target of the prosecution and that his political status should not grant him total immunity from prosecution.
