Opposition Vice-President and MP Ahmed Shiyam as stated that it is his hope that the current administration will seek guidance on economic recovery from former President Abdulla Yameen while during his transfer house arrest after 538 days in jail.
The Naifaru constituency MP stated this in a tweet made early this morning. In his tweet, MP Ahmed Shiyam stated that as the former President and opposition leader President Abdulla Yameen is temporarily transferred to house arrest, it is his hope that the top brass of the current administration will seek advise on how to mitigate the current recession and on economic recovery from the former President Abdulla Yameen.

In his tweet, MP Ahmed Shiyam attached snippets of two headlines from the past two weeks where major investments made during former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration was recorded to have brought in considerable amount of income for the current administration. The 25 story Dharumavantha Hospital and South Asia’s largest dredger “Mahaa Jarraaf” was reported to have brought in a total of MVR1.75 billion through mortgaging the assets and rendering services.
Former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration was marked by its rapid economic growth and development. Dubbed the “Economists” by his supporters, support for the former President Abdulla Yameen is at an all-time high as the current administration battles against economic predicaments brought about by alleged massive corruption cases along with public disapproval following allegations of rampant corruption, nepotism and sexual harassment within President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration.
