The Maldives Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that it has initiated the administering of the second dose of COVISHIELD vaccine in the Greater Male Area. HPA has announced that the second dose of COVISHIELD would be administered to the public from the Social Center and Hulhumale Vaccination Center.
According to the agency, the second dose of COVISHIELD vaccine will be open for those that’s has had the first dose of it within the past 8 weeks. Furthermore, online tokens would not be issued this time around, with only physical tokens being served on first come first basis.
Long queues are expected to turn up at the vaccination centers as only 300 tokens a night are to be issued from Hulhumale Vaccination Center and 900 tokens a night from the Social Center. Token will be issued starting at 21:00 from both vaccination centers.
Vaccination against the COVID19 pandemic has been successful in the Maldives with over 296,529 individual has been vaccinated in the Maldives. This includes both natives and expats who were given free access to medical care and the vaccination program amidst the pandemic. The surging number of positive cases in the past two weeks has again turned the public’s focus back on vaccination, with many requesting their first dose within the last two weeks.
