Italy is facing this Euro with a 100% winning performance in their Qualification matches. Italy scored a record 9 goals in their last qualification match. Italy is one of the favorites for this tournament with their impressive run in the qualification.

Qualifying

Italy’s performance in qualification round for Euro 2020 was exceptional. Italy was in Group with Finland, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Armenia and Liechtenstein. Italy won all the 10 matches they played during the qualification. Andrea Belotti was named the top scorer with 5 goals in the qualification.

Robert Lewandowski scores against Spain.

Robert Lewandowski, one of the best forwards in the world scored a crucial goal for his country beating  the opponents. This match was dominated by Spaniards as they controlled 76% of the game. The polish defense was kept busy throughout the game. Spain took 34 crosses in the match as they attacked throughout the game.

First goal of the match was scored by Alvaro Morata on 25th minute, Spain finished the first half with a lead but it didn’t take long as Robert Lewandowsky scored for Poland on 52nd minute. In front of their own supporters Spain missed the golden opportunity to score from the spot as Moreno failed to find the net.

With this score Spain is having a difficult time with only 2 points in the 3rd spot of the table, also Poland is at the bottom of the table. But all the teams in the group have the opportunity to pass through by winning the next games of the tournament which will be played on 23rd June.

Group of death becomes competitive as Germany beats Portugal.

Germany beat Portugal 4-2 in a sensational game in Munich. With Home advantage Germany was unstoppable attacking with full force including their two wing backs. On the 5th minute Robin Gosense found the net but was ruled out for offside. The opening goal of the match was from Portugal which Cristiano Ronaldo Scored in a counter attack on 15th minute.

After the goal Germans continued to pressure on Portugal’s defense which led to 2 own goals from the Portugal’s defense as they failed to handle the pressure for too long.   With 2 own goals within 4 minutes Germany was back on track. Second half of the game also saw 3 goals. Kai Havertz scored at 51st minute with the help of Robin Gosense and after 9 minutes Robin scored the 4th goal for Germany Securing their first victory in Euro2020. After a series of disappointment Portugal score a goal making it 4-2.

On the second match of the group the world champions France was held back by Hungary. Surprisingly Hungary was scored a goal in the extra time of the first half. France strived hard to win the game although they had to manage with 1 point. Their only goal was scored by Antoine Griezmann.

With the results in this group France, Germany and Portugal all 3 have the opportunity to proceed to round of 16. At the moment France is leading the group with 4 points while Portugal and Germany have 3 points. The final result will be decided on last matches of this group due to play on 23rd. on 23rd Germany will play against Hungary and Portugal will face France. Winners of these matches will proceed to round of 16.

Belgium makes a come back to win a crucial 3 points.

First match after Christian Ericksen’s medical incident on the field, Denmark’s supporters gave a warm welcome to their team in Copenhagen. Also a tribute was given to Eriksen in 10th minute of the game.

Yussuf Poulsen surprised Belgium in 2nd minute through the game with the second earliest goal in Euro history. Although Belgium strived hard to score first half ended with the lead for Danes. Kevin De Bruyne was brought on at the break, he played a key role in the game for Belgium to come back into the game.

In the 55th minute Belgium equalized with Thorgan Hazards goals assisted by De Bruyne. 15 minutes later the hard work paid off as Kevin De Bruyne Scored their second goal securing the victory.

With the result Belgium is at the top of the group with 6 points and +4 goals. Russia and Finland each got 3 points and still have the chance to promote to round of 16. Next matches of this group will be played on 21st June 2021.
