During this year’s summer fishing restriction, the China Coast Guard (CCG) co-launched a special law-enforcement operation to combat illegal marine fishery activities, which yielded considerable results.

During the operation, CCG agencies of all levels investigated over 5,200 fishing ships and apprehended 614 criminal suspects involved in unlawful fishing or malpractice, according to the CCG.

In comparison to last year, there was a significant decrease in maritime production activities that violated the law or rules this year, and the summer fishing prohibition was better implemented, according to the CCG.

The prohibition on maritime fishing lasted four and a half months, until September. The CCG, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs all joined forces to launch the special law-enforcement operation.
