Progress for humanity – core foreign policy value of CPC

At the turn of the 20th century, China was at the mercy of feudalistic and colonialist policies. The nation was fractured internally and was a non-existent player in global politics. This was the environment in which the Communist Party of China (CPC) came into being. In the seven decades since then, the country has become strong player in global politics, setting and contributing to global politics, and championing progress for humanity.

How was this achieved? There are lessons to be learnt from the past for the changing global environment, in light of pandemics, global development, and sustainable development

China’s epic journey to prosperity – what emerging nations can learn

At the start of the 20th century, China was mired in instability and disruption. Twelve years into the new century, the ruling dynasty fell, further spiraling the country into uncertainty. The establishment of a Republic, did little to ease the economic uncertainty that fell upon millions of Chinese. The Second World War brought in more stresses to the already fragile economy.

This all changed in the decades following 1949, culminating in the modern China we see today.
